Las Vegas, Nevada, USA

Las Vegas in Nevada, USA is where we started and ended our ten day road trip through most of the important National and State Parks in Nevada, Utah and Arizona. People really like or really hate Las Vegas and we belong to the former. Staying on The Strip and enjoying the luxury and lights it brings, especially at night, is almost a magical experience. Two days is more than enough though.

Small hotel in Vegas

We always opt for one of the smaller hotels on The Strip in the city of Las Vegas, Nevada, USA. This time we booked the Best Western Plus Casino Royale, with only 152 rooms one of the smallest we could find that was still close to everything. We will definitely go here again.

Breakfast in a casino

We went for breakfast in a casino on Fremont street in Downtown Las Vegas, Nevada, USA. This older part of Las Vegas is not as frequently visited as The Strip, but certainly worth spending some time in.

Amazing waterfalls in this heat

There are outdoor features at almost every hotel and resort on The Strip in the city of Las Vegas, Nevada, USA. At the Wynn they made some amazing waterfalls which look kind of surreal in this heat.

Approaching the Venetian

Approaching the Venetian Resort on The Strip in the city of Las Vegas, Nevada, USA. The resort is themed after Venice, includes an 11.000 m2 casino and opened with 3.036 suites in a 35-story tower. A 12-story tower, the Venezia, was completed in 2003, bringing the room count to 4.049. The Palazzo, a sister property with its own hotel and casino, opened north of the Venetian in 2007.

Like Venice, kind of

Fake gondolas on a fake lake with the backdrop of a fake Rialto Bridge. It's all like Venice, kind of, and part of the Venetian Resort on The Strip in the city of Las Vegas, Nevada, USA. Despite the high level of fakeness we found it pretty to look at.

Venice under a fake sky

Venice under a fake sky within the Venetian Resort on The Strip in the city of Las Vegas, Nevada, USA. The resort is themed after Venice and has replicas of numerous landmarks from the city, including a canal with gondola rides. It's all inside though to be able to benefit from air conditioning. Looks convincing but we'd rather see the real Venice.

Fake can be great

Fake can be great and that is definitely the case on The Strip in the city of Las Vegas, Nevada, USA. The many hotels and resorts on The Strip are competing to show off the most expensive and sometimes ridiculous features. These waterfalls at The Mirage look very convincing but are totally fake of course.

Chaotic curves

Chaotic curves at The Bellagio on The Strip in the city of Las Vegas, Nevada, USA. The Fountains of Bellagio is the most ambitious, complex water feature ever conceived and it’s absolutely free for any visitor to enjoy. We found it easy to find a spot and watch them against the backdrop of the Las Vegas lavender sky. Each performance is unique in expression and interpretation. We watched them a couple of times and each time the music and show was different. There is nothing like seeing them in person and we really fell in love with this unprecedented aquatic accomplishment.

Going to Paris

Going to Paris in the city of Las Vegas, Nevada, USA. Paris Las Vegas is a casino hotel on the Las Vegas Strip which officialy is in the city of Paradise, Nevada. Its features include a casino, 2.916 hotel rooms, a 1.400-seat performance theater, and various restaurants. The Paris-themed resort also includes a half scale replica of the Eiffel Tower, rising 164.6 metres.

Looking up to the Eiffel Tower

Looking up to the Eiffel Tower in the city of Las Vegas, Nevada, USA. It's only a half scale replica of the real thing in Paris but it sure looks nice. Inside it's like walking in the streets of Paris, Europe.

Also nice during the day

Inspired by the villages of Europe, Bellagio Resort & Casino overlooks a Mediterranean-blue lake with fountains performing a magnificent ballet. It's a truly enjoyable experience to watch the fountains at The Bellagio in the city of Las Vegas, Nevada, USA. Most beautiful at night but also nice during the day.
