Gotland, Sweden (2017)

A return visit to our friends in Gotland, Sweden. As usual a great time to enjoy the island with its wonderful mixture of nature, small villages and the historic city of Visby.

All photo's can be purchased on various materials through my shop on artheroes.com.

Below are all the photos related to this travel experience including the relevant link to the shop.

Passing the old city wall

Passing the old city wall nearing the city of Visby on Gotland in Sweden. The historic wall is perfectly maintained and the city can be entered through a number of entrance gates.

Sheep everywhere

Sheep play an important part on the island of Gotland in Sweden. In the city of Visby sculptures can be found at all the entrance gates.

Visby cathedral

Not being a religious person, I don't have much with churches and/or cathedrals. That being said however does not mean I cannot appreciate the architecture of some cathedrals. The Visby cathedral is a beautiful building overlooking the city of Visby on Gotland in Sweden.

Elevated view over Visby

The historic city of Visby on Gotland in Sweden is not entirely flat. Here we were approaching the city from the car park and got this nice elevated view over Visby.

Strolling through a fairytale city

Strolling through the fairytale city of Visby on Gotland in Sweden. Lovely colourful houses and narrow streets on a beautiful sunny day. What's not to like?

Awesome botanical garden

It is most certainly not the biggest, but the awesome botanical garden in the city of Visby on Gotland in Sweden is definitely worth a visit. Especially in Spring and Summer there is lots to see.

Treasure flower

Even though I am a huge fan of nature in general, visiting gardens is normally not something I do. I do make an exception though for the botanical garden in the city of Visby on Gotland in Sweden. I loved this colourful treasure flower.

Drotten church ruins

Drotten church ruins in the centre of the city of Visby on Gotland in Sweden. It's lovely to see they keep these ruins and incorporate them in the city infrastructure. People can freely roam around in the church.

Small restaurant in the corner

There are numerous nice restaurants in the city of Visby on Gotland in Sweden. This one is nicely tucked away in the corner under one of the city's main entrance gates.

Former fisherman cottages

These former fisherman cottages in the small village of Djupvik on Gotland in Sweden can be rented. It's an awesome place to find peace and quiet as there isn't much to do except some fishing and swimming.

Around the back

Kattlunds gård in the locality of Havdhem on Gotland in Sweden is a farm in the Grötlingbo parish. The manor building is partly medieval, although it got its current appearance in the early 19th century. In 1922, the farm was purchased by Gotland's old friends. Nowadays it is part of the County Museum on Gotland as a summer attraction serving drinks and food.
