Oudewater, Utrecht (2021)

On a clear day in december of 2021 we visited another small city in the Netherlands, Oudewater.  Oudewater is a city and municipality in the Dutch province of Utrecht . The place originated around 1100, obtained city rights in 1265 and can therefore be regarded as the oldest city in the green heart of the country. Oudewater has more than 300 historic buildings, 97 municipal monuments and 127 national monuments, making it the highest density of monuments in the Netherlands. The origin of the name Oudewater is unknown.
