Orlando, Florida (2012)

The third time me and my wife were visiting Orlando in Florida. The city is well known for its amusement parks, but we love it for the great weather, the feeling of space around us and affordable accommodation. Renting a complete house with swimming pool on airbnb is easy to do and gives us a feeling of luxury. This time around we visited the old town of St. Augustine, about two hours north of Orlando.

All photo's can be purchased on various materials through my shop on artheroes.com.

Below are all the photos related to this travel experience including the relevant link to the shop.

Fawlty Towers

We have very fond memories of the English TV-show "Fawlty Towers" and were pleasantly surprised to see a motel with the same name in Cocoa Beach, Florida, USA. We did not go in to see if Basil Fawlty was present.

Lonely at the beach

When we got to the beach at the Matanzas Inlet near St. Augustine in Florida, USA we were positively surprised to see it was almost deserted and that is exactly how we like beaches. We loved seeing this woman being all alone at the beach.

Long way to the beach

On our way to St. Augustine in Florida, USA we stopped at the Matanzas Inlet. Great boardwalk, but it was a really long way to the beach.

Waterwheel in motion

Located at Mill Top Tavern just off St. George Street in St. Augustine, Florida is a working water wheel. The tavern is a renovated 19th century grist mill. Driven by a well at the bottom of the wheel water pumped up to the top to drive the wheel.

Kilwin's on Saint George Street

Being the oldest continuously inhabited European-established settlement in the USA, St. Augustine in Florida offers some really nice old buildings and streets. Most of those in the city centre have turned into little shops. This here is Kilwin's on Saint George Street.

Flock of seagulls

Spending some time on the beach near St. Augustine in Florida, USA. We loved the early evening sun on this flock of seagulls passing by.

The lilac one

We noticed lots of pretty flowers in the dunes of St. Augustine, Florida, USA. It's clear why this one is named the Clitoria mariana :-)

We found this beauty in the garden of the villa we were staying at in Orlando, Florida. Surprised to see it with temperatures around 35 degrees Celcius.
