Since it was only a relatively short distance from Africa to Europe, the European part of this world cruise was limited to Tenerife, one of the Canary Islands and Cádiz in Spain.
We were really taken by Tenerife and will definitely return their soon. The El Teide National Park is phenomenal. Cádiz was a fun stop and we had a drive through the Andalusian landscape ending up in a little town called Conil de la Frontera.

After reaching the national park we gor a perfect scenic view on El Teide in the distance. Parque Nacional del Teide on the island of Tenerife in Spain was a joy to visit and we will definitely return there one day. The park spans nearly 19000 hectares and is famous for its unique, Mars-like volcanic landscapes, ancient craters, and fossilized lava flows.
We loved the view of El Teide in Parque Nacional del Teide, Tenerife, Spain. It's an active stratovolcano that stands as Spain’s highest peak at 3718 meters. Reaching the absolute peak requires a free permit, strictly capped at 300 people per day. Reservations must be requested weeks or months in advance.
Roque Cinchado is a spectacular 27-meter-high volcanic rock pillar located within Teide National Park in Tenerife, Spain. Positioned at an altitude of approximately 2100 meters above sea level, it sits roughly 1700 meters below the summit of Mount Teide, Spain’s highest peak. It is widely celebrated as the island's most iconic natural landmark and is famously known as the "Stone Tree" or "Finger of God" due to its unique, gravity-defying shape.
Got myself a very nice view of El Teide in the distance while climbing up the El Torrotito rock formations in Parque Nacional del Teide, Tenerife, Spain. This landscape is just so surreal.
The valley behind El Catedral, located in Parque Nacional del Teide, Tenerife, Spain. Called the Llano de Ucanca, this striking plain is the largest sedimentary flat or ravine within the massive Las Cañadas Caldera in the National Park. It formed roughly 170.000 years ago when an ancient volcanic edifice collapsed and slid into the sea.
El Torrotito is part of the Los Roques de García rock formations in Teide National Park on Tenerife, Spain. These iconic formations are the remnants of a volcanic wall that once divided the ancient Las Cañadas caldera.
El Torrotito and its famous neighbor, the Roque Cinchado (the "Stone Tree"), are geological features known as "dykes" and "pitons". These are the dense, hardened cores of old volcanic vents and fissures that resisted erosion while the softer surrounding rock was weathered away by wind and rain.
Layers in the El Torrotito rocks, part of the Los Roques de García rock formations in Teide National Park on Tenerife, Spain. The layers are a result of successive, overlapping volcanic eruptions over millennia. They feature a mixture of ash, pumice, and cooled lava flows.
The rock formation El Catedral as seen from Mirador de la Ruleta, a scenic lookout in Parque Nacional del Teide, Tenerife, Spain.
Mirador de la Ruleta (also known as La Ruleta Vista Point) is one of the most famous viewing platforms in Teide National Park. Located at an altitude exceeding 2.100 meters, it provides great views of the sweeping, Martian-like volcanic landscapes and unique rock formations.
After having spent a day on the island of Tenerife we left the harbour early in the evening. We got a beautiful view of La Alegría, a hillside residential neighborhood located in the Anaga district of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain. Situated above the port area, it offers stunning views of the coastline and acts as a primary gateway for hikers heading into the rugged trails of the Parque Rural de Anaga.
Town sign of the small town of Conil de la Frontera in Spain. We got to spend a few hours here including lunch at the beach.
We loved this sun-drenched, white-washed coastal town which is situated on the Atlantic coast along the stunning Costa de la Luz. This former fishing village seamlessly blends the charm of a traditional pueblo blanco with 14 kilometers of golden, sandy beaches. Its name "de la Frontera" ("of the border") dates back to the Reconquista era when it served as a boundary town between Christian and Moorish territories.
After some walking we went for a drink at cocktail bar Mojito in the small town of Conil de la Frontera in Spain. Great selection of refreshing drinks and cocktails, but we went our favourite, a Pina Colada. Perfect name for a cocktail bar by the way.
Calle Ancia is just one of many small side streets in the small town of Conil de la Frontera in Spain. It is definitely one of the most scenic towns in Andalusia and we loved strolling through the small streets with colourful flowers everywhere.
We can definitely recommend walking around in the small town of Conil de la Frontera in Spain. Almost all houses have an abundance of colourful pots and flowers on display. The blue colour of the pots create a nice contrast with the white walls.
