Over the years we have made quite some friends in the UK. We decided it was time to pay them a visit and see some of the country at the same time on a short little road trip. So we booked the ferry from Rotterdam to Hull to spend a week with them in both Yorkshire and Wales. We loved every minute of this little road trip and especially enjoyed the quaint little villages.

The Teifi River flowing under the Cenarth Bridge near the village of Cenarth, part of Newcastle Emlyn in Wales, UK. Looking through the Cenarth Bridge in the village of Cenarth, part of Newcastle Emlyn in Wales, UK. The design of the bridge includes two cylindrical holes (perforated spandrels) 1.8 m in diameter, one on either side of the central span. The holes were included in the design to reduce the weight of the structure and also to allow floodwaters to pass through them, instead of going over the top of the bridge: while the river appears to flow only under the southern arch, when in full flood the Teifi river flows through all three arches.
