Every year when we are escaping the European winter and spend time in Australia we fly back home. This year we decided to do it differently. I found a world cruise where we could embark in Sydney and sail all the way back to Southampton in the United Kingdom. The whole trip would take 57 days and that made it the longest cruise we ever did.
It was mainly the itinerary that appealed to us with destinations in Australia, Asia, Africa and Europe, most of which we hadn't been to before. The ship that we were going to be on was the Queen Mary 2 from Cunard. Though the ship had everything we needed in terms of accommodation and food, the rest of the facilities were mediocre at best. The Queen Mary 2 is just not suitable to do cruises and is in desperate need of maintenance. Faded glory so to speak. Despite the discomfort at times, we did enjoy the trip though!
