When our favorite singer from Australia, Delta Goodrem, announced that she was doing a spontaneous concert in a small venue in London we did not hesitate to book a short trip. We decided to take the train and had a smooth four-hour ride from Amsterdam straight into the heart of London. The venue was almost next to the railway station so we booked an airbnb closeby. As we had been in London quite a few times before we only stayed in the neighborhood.

In order for us to get to London in the UK we had to take a local train to the Amsterdam Central railway station. As it happens the local train turned out to be a German ICE train.
On our way to London, UK and getting a transfer in Amsterdam. After we disembarked from the German ICE train that brought us from our hometown to the Amsterdam Central railway station the train was labelled as 'Do not board'.
My love for trains and railway stations came nicely together when travelling from the Netherlands to London, UK. After arriving on the Amsterdam Central railway station I spent some time enjoying the wonderful atmosphere that railway stations tend to bring.
Still in Amsterdam waiting in line for our Eurostar train to London, UK. While waiting I couldn't resist portraying these identical two trains on the tracks in the Amsterdam Central railway station.
Still in Amsterdam, waiting to board our Eurostar train to London, UK. I have always loved trains and railway stations. I liked this view on the tracks where one train is just leaving the station.
Just arrived at St. Pancras International railway station in London, UK. The four-hour train ride from Amsterdam was comfortable and smooth. Certainly something to consider again if we ever have to go back to London.
We loved hanging around the St. Pancras International railway station in London after arriving from Amsterdam. Especially the roof is incredible.
Iron gates & fences are an essential part of houses in the area around the Saint Pancras railway station in London. We loved admiring all the different fences.
Walking around in the area around the Saint Pancras station in London we stumbled upon the Holy Cross church. Gorgeous building in a beautiful setting. We loved this side entrance more than the actual entrance.
St. Pancras station in London is a truly architectural marvel and it's the railway station we arrived at for this short city trip. It opened in 1868 and is one of the wonders of Victorian engineering. Along with the former Midland Grand Hotel, it is a masterpiece of Victorian Gothic architecture and one of the most elegant stations in the World.
While walking around the neighborhood in London we came across this small 'restaurant' that actually contained four different ones. Turned out it was a popup restaurant with only one table for each side representing a different kitchen. This here was the Greek side. Lovely how they really got the atmosphere right.
It is never hard to find a decent spot to have lunch or dinner in London. When we saw 'The Fellow' we decided to check it out and we were not disappointed. All the way up they had a lovely outside terrace where we enjoyed one of the best lunches we had in a long time.
We don't do a lot of shopping anymore these days but we do love it when small shops suddenly appear in between regular houses. This here is a second hand bookshop called 'Black books' in London, UK. Lovely for browsing around in and maybe find that unique book you were always looking for or hoping to find.
The United Kingdom is known for its pub culture and pubs can be found on every street corner. This here is a pub called 'Lord John Russell' and it is beautifully painted in blue. We did not end up having a drink there but it looked really lovely.
Almost everywhere we go phone booths seem to be a thing of the past. Usually not to be found anywhere anymore or sometimes transformed into something else. In London however they are still a part of everyday life and they are also in working order. Made us wonder who uses them anymore since everyone has a mobile phone these days.
London has so many places where beautiful homes are lined up in a crescent shape. Here we are looking back at the gorgeous houses in Cartwright Gardens. The gardens were originally built between 1809 and 1811. The crescent is composed of several hotels set in their original Georgian buildings.
